The U.S. Army has a unmanned, unmanned aircraft called the Hunter. It is used by the Army to gather intelligence on enemy forces and make plans for attacks. This drone, which has been combat proven, is currently in service since 1995. The Republic of Macedonia was the first deployment. Over four thousand hours of flight were flown by Hunter over its seven-month operational time span. The Hunter's remarkable operational success in Kosovo led it to be re-instated into production. It was also deployed to Iraq to be used against ISIS using Viper Strike Munitions.

MQ-5B Hunter

The MQ-5B Hunter version is an enhanced version of MQ-5. It features a twin-tail-boom design and heavy-fuel engines. The aircraft also has weapons-capable hardpoints. The MQ-5B Hunter is a light aircraft with a weight of 1800 pounds. It can fly up to 22,000 feet at altitude. It can perform missions for up to fifteen hours. This aircraft has a relay mode for controlling other Hunter aircraft, and can carry two Viper Strike guided bombs. It can also fly up to 80 miles, making this aircraft ideal for scouting missions.

The MQ-5B Hunter is equipped with the most advanced DoD UAV avionics. The aircraft has a PC-based mission system, an auxiliary distribution unit (GCS), GPS, and a Litton N-251 inertial navigation. The advanced avionics systems help reduce the aircraft's weight, size and power consumption. It is capable of executing multiple missions simultaneously.

RQ-5A Endurance Hunter E-Hunter

The Endurance Hunter (E-Hunter), a tactical unmanned air vehicle, is called the Endurance Hunter. It flew its first flight on March 17, 2005. This aircraft is a cooperative effort between Northrop Grumman and the US Army. The Hunter UAV's endurance, payload and range will be improved. It will be sold as a field-installable package. Currently, there are about 50 Endurance Hunter RQ-5As in service.

The Hunter is capable of carrying Northrop Grumman's BAT submunition, which has destroyed an MBT combat vehicle and incapacitated a moving T-72 tank. The Hunter also carried the Viper Strike precision munition (1.8kg (4 lb), which has a warhead and semi-active laser seeker). It is a fixed-wing, dual-rudder aircraft with a six-hour endurance rating and a flight time of over 100 hours. The RQ-5A's propellers are two Passaggio Guzzi diesel engines, each producing 60hp.

Army One System: Ground Control Station

The Army is advancing toward a more universal ground control system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It's becoming possible to buy hundreds of inexpensive, high-performance UAVs from many manufacturers to have complete aerial coverage of the battlefield. However, each UAV is unique, with a unique controller, vehicle, receiver, and screen. To address this issue, the Army has begun a new program called the One System. One System ground controls is an example of this. This Spotlight article focuses on One System's current reach and future technology initiatives.

The One System platform was initially designed for the RQ-7 Shadow TUAS from Textron. It can now support multiple UAVs, including Northrop Grumman RQ-5 Hunter. It also supports the RQ-2 Pioneer and AAI's Aerosonde, as well as the RQ-8 Fire Scout helicopter UAV. Both the One System ground command station and the ground station are powered by Windows and Sun Solaris and communicate using an antenna and an analog informationlink.

Viper Strike anti–armor munitions integration

Northrop Grumman announces a contract for several GBU-44/E Viper Strike unmanned aerial vehicle anti-armor armed. These munitions will be integrated on KC-130J Harvest Hawks and will use the latest software load to increase the effectiveness of the weapon against time-sensitive targets. Viper Strike is a GPS assisted laser-guided version of the BAT munition.

Is it possible to fly a drone at high altitudes without a license?

The FAA does not limit the height of a drone. However, they do require you to register your unmanned aircraft system (UAS), which includes the registration number, model name, weight, size, serial number, manufacturer's name, date manufactured, and other information.

Are Drones Banned Where?

The FAA has banned drones in areas near airports and stadiums. However, they do allow them to fly at night using GPS technology.

How To

Repairing a damaged motor on a drone

You must first identify the damaged part of your motor before you can fix it. It is easy to do this by removing the propeller shaft from the motor shaft. Then, you need to remove any wires connected to the motor and inspect its inner workings. If you spot something wrong, you can identify which part of the motor needs to be fixed.

If there is no damage to the motor, then you don't have to worry too much however if the motor looks like one of these images below, then you'll need to replace some components before you can fly again.

Imagine that the motor has become bent to the point it will not turn. This means that you will need to bend the motor back into shape. To hold the motor, use a vice grip or pair of pliers. After you've completed the above, ensure that you inspect the motor for signs and wear.

Once everything is in order, attach the propeller to the motor shaft. Now your drone is ready to fly!
