Drones and ISIS Combat

Although the United States, Russia, as well as other countries, want to use modern aircraft more often, Ukraine lacks the resources necessary to train its troops on these aircraft. While the Ukrainians do have training on aircraft and vehicles in Western countries like Germany, they are not able to get the same training on drones in Ukraine. Because Ukrainians have grown up using older equipment, such as trucks, drones are easier for them. Drones don't require pilots, making them easier for soldiers to use. Drones can also be used in a similar way to video games.

Aerorozvidka

The Ukrainian military uses a unique approach to combating ISIS in eastern Ukraine: octocopters equipped with thermal cameras for nighttime missions. Some drones come with anti-tank weapons. They can also light up columns. These drones can carry up to 11 lbs worth of payload and are extremely maneuverable. Because they are small, drones can be flown low and over targets to drop munitions.

Aerorozvidka started out as an IT enthusiast organization. Today, Aerorozvidka is a military-grade air reconnaissance unit. The first mission of the organization was to operate a drone company. But, over time, it became a fully-fledged unit, with its own head. Due to export restrictions, the Ukrainian government prohibited Russian military aircraft entry into Ukraine. Aerorozvidka depends on crowdfunding and donations to keep the company afloat, as many of the drone components are made in the USA.

Switchblade

The U.S. military is supplying Ukraine with armed "Switchblade" drones, which are able to strike Russian tanks from miles away. These unmanned aerial vehicles were designed by the US Air Force as a response to Ukrainian demands. John Kirby from the Pentagon stated that over 121 of these machines were being sent to Ukraine. There is not yet any information about how the Switchblades are used in the conflict with Ukraine.

The Switchblade drone is small and easy to launch from a tube. It has a range 40 km. The Switchblade, unlike Bayraktar drones can strike a Russian convoy up to 6 miles away. These small aircraft can easily be assembled in minutes for a conflict such as Ukraine. The Switchblade has a much higher speed than the Bayraktar, the current U.S. allies.

Russian kamikaze drones

Recently, the US announced that it would provide $800 million in military assistance to Ukraine. Part of that package is the delivery of 121 unmanned aircraft, called "Phoenix Ghosts," which are intended to terrorize Russian forces. These aircraft are designed for flying over areas for up to thirty to forty minutes and come equipped with warheads, cameras, and other equipment. The Switchblade is a hovering munition weighing 5.5 pounds that can destroy tanks and armored vehicles.

These lightweight, small aircrafts can be operated from land, sea, and air thanks to their powerful, low-flying, gimbal. A conflict like this is where every advantage one side has over the other in an aerial battle is critical. Russian kamikaze helicopters are a direct threat. This capability is likely to be a key weapon for Ukraine's military as it can break Russian sieges and attack command and control nodes. While such capabilities would be a major liability for both sides, if a small drone can make a difference on the battlefield, Ukraine could emerge as the victor.

U.S. drones left to loiter

Russia has started integrating ZALA KYB lotering munitions to its military arsenal. These drones have the ability to use deadly loitering munition in the style of bazookas. These autonomous killing machines may be more common in black markets if loitering drones are used. However, experts and pundits have expressed concern about this. So what can America do to stop this happening?

Kirby claims that the U.S. government sent more than 121 Switchblade loitering helicopters to Ukraine in order to aid Kiev against Russian forces. The Switchblade drone can hover in a given area for between 30 and 40 minutes. It weighs in at 5.5 pounds. It comes with a camera as well as a small warhead. Its mission is to eliminate the opposition forces within Ukraine.

  2. You must remove the battery pack. First, get rid of the battery. It's easy to locate the battery underneath the propeller. Be careful not to loose screws during removal.
  3. Remove all pieces. Next, carefully remove all the parts from under the drone. Check that none of them are loose, as they may fall off when you try to clean the machine.
  4. Use a cleaning solution. Now it is time to clean the drone. We recommend that you use WD40 as a cleaning agent before doing this. Spray the entire surface of the drone with the cleaner. Make certain to get in between components. Leave it to dry completely before putting everything back together.
